Salesforce highlighted the importance of addressing AI regulation, safety, and potential job losses as AI technology advances at the annual Dreamforce conference. Autonomous agents are upon us. Hubspot is building a network of AI agents.
Notably, California Governor Gavin Newsom signed three bills into law at the conference, aiming to combat election misinformation through regulating AI-created content.
Another big Salesforce news is the acquisition of Own Company. They acquired Own Company, a New Jersey-based provider of data management and protection solutions, for $1.9 billion in cash. This makes it Salesforce’s largest acquisition since purchasing Slack in 2021.
Own Company, which rebranded from OwnBackup last year, specializes sn data backup, disaster recovery, and data management services. The acquisition aims to enhance Salesforce’s data security and management capabilities, addressing the growing need for robust data protection amid increasing cybersecurity threats. Own is trusted by nearly 7,000 customers and should help Salesforce offer more comprehensive data protection and compliance solutions. You can read more on this deal here.
Happy managing!
