Welcome back CRM enthusiasts. This week, I am mulling over the pros and cons of customisation. To Customise or Not to Customise, if you will, and how to balance the benefits and the drawbacks/challenges of either decision in CRM solutions.
Low-code CRM solutions offer a streamlined approach and several benefits along with it. With less complexity and reduced maintenance requirements, these options save time and resources, while minimising technical debt. And because they are easier to manage, low-code solutions can free up your team to focus on other critical tasks.
On the other hand, we have customisation. With it, you can tailor the system to your exact business needs, seamlessly aligning it with your unique process. It enables you to create unique features, workflows, and integrations that low-code solutions might not provide. But these benefits come with some notable challenges. Custom code requires more development resources and expertise, which usually leads to higher upfront costs and longer implementation times. Besides, maintaining and updating a customised system can be complex and time-consuming.
Ultimately, the decision to customise your CRM solution depends on your organisation's unique requirements, resources, and long-term goals. Striking the right balance between the advantages of customisation and the simplicity of low-code solutions isn’t always cut and dry.
We touched on this subject in our interview with Lukas and you can read more about custom CRM drawbacks here: https://www.nutshell.com/blog/custom-crm-drawbacks.
But I’d love to hear your take. Do you usually lean towards customisation for a tailored fit, or do you find that the benefits of a low-code solution outweigh the need for bespoke features? Leave a comment or reply directly to this email and let me know your thoughts!
